Describe the personality or look of your tree.

My tree has a dark and aged trunk, which makes me think it is old and wise. Over the years this tree has seen so much, and grown with the world around it. This tree also has pale and round leaves, which make it look young and fresh, which is very contrasting to the trunk. This tells me that the tree has multiple personalities.

Why is this tree important to you?

This tree holds many fond memories, as my friends and I would go to this tree after school, and we would hang out and eat snacks. This tree has probably heard so many secrets being shared, and seen lots of fun games played by my friends and I.

What does a sustainable future look like in Monash?

I believe that a sustainable future in Monash will have everyone using public transport, riding a bike or walking to the places they must go. I also see a lot of greenery, with trees and communal gardens on every street. People would gather in the parks to catch up, and everyone's houses had solar panels and use sustainable energy.

What are you doing right now to create that future?

Right now in my household, we use solar power, and compost our scraps. We use the bin provided by the council, and I run around turning off all the lights that are on for no reason. We also eat vegetarian meals once a week, and support local businesses as much as we can. I walk to school every day, and my mum walks to the train station too.

Where is your tree located?

My tree is located in the Valley Reserve in Mount Waverley. It is behind the Flying Foxes in the playground, near the bird rock. This tree provides shade over the benches, and is next to the education area.
