Elevate is a free program for young people aged 14 to 18 who live, study or play in the City of Monash.

Elevate is made up of two different types of weekly sessions, a facilitated program session and a drop in sessions. There is one of each session every fortnight during the school term.

Facilitated program session:

These sessions include an activity that is led by the Elevate facilitators, with social time and food at the beginning and end.

Drop-in session:

Elevate participants are free to attend for any period of time between 4pm and 6pm. These drop-in sessions are an opportunity to speak one on one with youth workers about personal goals or continue working on an activity from a previous facilitated program session.

Where does Elevate happen?

Monash Youth Services, 1/2 Euneva Ave, Glen Waverley 3150.

When does Elevate happen?

Elevate runs on Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm, except on public holidays and school holidays. Participants will have the opportunity to speak with a worker on non-program weeks.

What to expect at Elevate?

Elevate will be run at Monash Youth Services and will use the Youth Space, kitchen and meeting room at different times.

The first half hour of the program will be social time and an opportunity to connect with other young people and make new friends. There will be board games, an arcade machine and other activities you can do during this time. There may be noises from games and other people speaking in the space.

After this, the Elevate facilitators or participants will run one or more icebreaker activities. These will be short activities that help Elevate participants get to know each other better.

Then, Elevate facilitators will lead participants into the main activity of the session. Each Elevate session is structured around a specific skill, such as communication, confidence, financial literacy, and other skills that will help participants gain independence and move into adulthood. The session will include one or more activities that are related to developing and practicing that skill.

After the main activity or activities of the session, food will be served for participants. Following this, there will be additional time for socialising and reflection on the session.

The drop-in weeks are flexible sessions where Elevate participants can come in at time of their choosing. They are welcome to stay for the entire 4pm – 6pm period but can stay or leave earlier if they want. Both Elevate facilitators will be present at sessions and are available for one-on-one discussions with participants. This can be used as an opportunity to discuss personal goals outside of Elevate or work more in depth on an activity that was covered in a previous Elevate session. On these weeks, there is no facilitated activity. Snack food is also provided at the drop-in sessions. The drop-in program will only be available to Elevate participants.
