Film Festival 2025

Being part of the Monash Youth Film Festival this year was such a memorable and rewarding experience. As a member of the film fest committee, I got to see first hand how much work goes into putting together an event that celebrates creativity, storytelling, and the voices of young filmmakers.

In the lead-up to the festival, our committee worked on planning, promotion, and making sure everything came together smoothly. It was exciting to be part of a team where everyone contributed ideas and energy. The collaboration made me appreciate just how much effort goes into creating opportunities for young people to showcase their work.

On the day of the event, it was incredible to watch the films on the big screen and feel the audience’s reactions. Seeing so many different styles of filmmaking reminded me how talented and imaginative young people in our community are.

Another highlight for me was the friendships I made through the process. Working closely with other young people who shared the same passion for film and creativity helped us bond quickly. It was great to not only collaborate but also laugh, share ideas, and support each other throughout the journey. These connections made the whole experience even more enjoyable and memorable.

For me, being part of the festival wasn’t just about celebrating film. It was also about developing leadership skills, meeting new people, and learning how to work as a team to pull off something meaningful. It felt amazing to play a small role in giving young filmmakers a platform to share their stories.

The Monash Youth Film Festival has shown me the power of storytelling and how important it is to create spaces where young people can express themselves. I walked away inspired, proud, and excited to see what next year’s festival will bring.
