In 2018 the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley provided financial support that enabled the City of Monash Youth Services (MYS) team to deliver Mental Health First Aid training to staff, students and parents of 2 local secondary schools.

In an ongoing partnership, the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley and MYS jointly applied for and were successful in the Victorian Government initiative Pick My Project.

The funding received through Pick My Project enables the delivery of Mental Health First Aid training to secondary schools and the wider community of Monash in 2019/2020.

Using accredited trainers, Youth Mental Health First Aid training will be delivered to school and community settings for school staff and community members who want to be better placed to support young people who are experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. This training is ideal for parents, coaches, mentors and leaders of young people who want to learn how to:

- Identify possible signs and symptoms

- Communicate your concerns and offer support

- Link them in with local, professional support services

Accredited trainers will also be used to deliver teen Mental Health First Aid training to Year 10 students of participating schools.
