Monash Youth Leadership Programs
Monash Youth Services knows the wealth of talent there is in our youth community, and we are dedicated to supporting you to become a future leader.
The Young Women’s Leadership Program (YWLP), the Young Men’s Leadership Program (YMLP) and the Rainbow Leadership Program (RLP). The program runs for 10 weeks, with one 2 hour session during the afternoon each week. It is open to young people, aged between 15-20 years of age who live, study, work or recreate in the City of Monash. The program is delivered face to face in community settings across Monash. We have also delivered the program online to accommodate COVID restrictions during 2021. Our aim to is to be accessible and inclusive as possible.
The program covers leadership, public speaking, financial independence, friendships, relationships and everything in-between. Program graduates have gone on to be school captains, obtain scholarships, employment opportunities, reassess and reinvigorate their goals and even trek Mt Kilimanjaro.
The Young Women’s Leadership Program
Participants are young women or young people identifying as female, aged between 15-20 years of age who live, study, work or recreate in the City of Monash. In addition to the leadership skill and capacity development, this group explores gender discrimination and women’s equality in societies.
The Young Men’s Leadership Program
Participants are young men or young people identifying as male, aged between 15-20 years of age who live, study, work or recreate in the City of Monash. In addition to the leadership skill and capacity development, the men’s program explores positive masculinity and creating strong male role models.
The Rainbow Leadership Program
Participants are young people identifying as LGBTIQA+, aged between 15-20 years of age who live, study, work or recreate in the City of Monash. In addition to the leadership skill and capacity development, the Rainbow program explores positive representations of LGBTIQA+ people in leadership and how to create inclusive communities spaces.
