On Sunday, the 18th of February, I had my first official gig with Quiksound Productions, the 2018 Clayton Festival. Although we didn’t organise the whole
occurrence, it was a pleasant introduction towards what we would be doing in the future.
We ran a section of the festival in which we hosted games and live music on a stage. There was a variety of acts including a cultural dance, modern music and rock performances. We had a henna artists which created beautiful henna tattoos, a photo caravan people could go in to take instant print photos. Our whole zone was free of charge except we sold popcorn and fairy floss for a dollar each. We made badges with any design requested. There were games like giant connect 4 and giant Jenga, It was a lively day full of fun.
I took away many things and experienced new things from this memorable event. I had chances to interact with strangers to build my confidence with
communicating to people who I don’t know. I practiced my public speaking skill when I made announcements on stage, mainly thanking the previous performer
and introducing the next one, I also pointed out emergency exit areas and reminded everyone to stall cool and hydrated.
The 2018 Clayton Festival has been a momentous one. I will always remember how I started as a new and inexperienced Quiksound member and my
hopes are to improve my skills and develop myself as a learner for life.
